my 90 240 has a hard time starting. it will crank over for a while and then will fire up. i did a compression test to it after i le it sit for about 5-6 hours after running it. i got readings like 115, 120, 110, and 115. would this be the rings? would that be why it takes my car a while to start because of not enough compression because after the car runs and i turn it off...it will start up right away if you try to start it.

You compression numbers are very low and you should give some attention to that problem before it becomes very serious. It's not necessary that the piston rings are the problem, however it would be the first guess. Also be sure that you had the throttle wide open while performing the test. Have a leak down test performed.

When you say it cranks for a while, do you mean the starter is turning fast, but just taking a while? Or is the starter sluggish in turning the engine?

If the starter is sluggish when the engine is cold, but pretty quick after the engine has ran a while, then I'd say you were using too thick oil.
