Hard to start when cold

OK, so here is the deal. If the outside temperature get below about 45 degrees my car has some troubles. It will start right up when I turn the key, but then it won't stay running. Then I have to wait a second and do it again. I will have to repeat that anywhere from once to 4 times before it will start and stay running. But if the outside temperature is above that, then it starts and stays running just fine. It's really annoying and I'd like to fix it. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated.
