My 1989 240Sx with 300KM is hard to start after its sits for a day or two. The battery and starter are new. The motor turns over fine but when it starts it runs very rough (almost like it is not running on all cylinders). There is a strong gas smell while the motor is "catching." Any ideas would be appreciated.

is the smell in the car, under the hood or out the tail pipe? sounds like maybe leaking injectors? try new injector o-rings? sorry ican't help more.

I would just call that an old engine. Anything that old starts easier when ran every day, the fuel smell would be present if it was hard to crank naturally. You might just want to do a tune up on the old girl anyway. That would at least make it run smoother, and you might not find it so hard to start in the mornings.
