A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

hi, I haev 1994 g20 automatic, a lot of times it will get not engage 3rd gear...

and it shift pretty rough with a nasty leak

so I am thinking about getting the auto transmission replaced. I found locally that someone has a 1996 g20 transmission for 100$

I was wondering how hard it is to replace auto transmission? would you say it is harder to change a manual transmission?

i don't like fwd setups to begin with, but an at should be just as easy to replace as an MT, with exception of weight. AT's are exceptionally heavier than MT's but the work is the same.

In the 240, to remove the AT you need to detach the torque converter, but you may have more room in a fwd to remove the AT without unbolting the Torque converter.

isn't the torque convertor inside the AT housing? kind of like a fly wheel but ****tier?

I wonder if I can tackle this myself...

no the auto flywheel is really light and is used to start the car. and the converter is the equivilant of a clutch and pressure plante assy, and is bolted to the flywheel. the TC is the link between the engine and trans. It used a centrifugal clutch to engage at a certain RPM.
