I though I would ask my boys on Nico first.

I am trying to help out my Uncle on his truck. I know this is not a Nissan or a Infinity car. But does any of the ol pals have advise on what could be going wrong with his truck or do you recommend any good Chevy Forums you can direct me too????

I have a 97 Chevy truck 4.3 187,000. When I turn the key I hear some elctronic noise for a couple of seconds and then the engine will fire. It is not the typical starter noise. This has been going on for about 3 months. Yesterday it would not start. I pulled the starter and had it, the selenoid, and the battery checked. All were working well. I put everything back and still it is a very slow starter. Any ideas?????

It's normal to hear the fuel pump during start up, but if it's getting noisier that could be part of the problem, or that the fuel filter is severly plugged. May as well check the air filter for plugging also. Not sure if the 97 4.3 still has a MAP rather than a MAF. Start simple with checking a couple filters and compression since she's an old gal with some miles. Could be cam sensor or any number of things. Eletrical connections. Just start simple.

Also, there is no "Y" in Infiniti, just getting it out of the way before maxnix guts you alive for it.

If it is a Vortech engine, they have a tendency to have a bad fuel regulator and is located inside the intake. you have to buy the whole injector kit.

Also I am thinking that your timing maybe off if is hard to crank. They noise you hear should be the fuel pump when you try to start and hear a humm to prime the system. try to get a fuel preasure test you should be at least 35psi.
