I have a 97 Pathfinder with an automatic. There is a harsh 1st to second shift. My question: I've belonged to a Quest/Villager forum for several years. They use the same 3.0L and 3.3L used in Pathfinders (except the vans are non interference engines).
Many of the vans suffer from harsh shifts as well. With the vans, the adjustment of the TPS is very important to the shifting. Do Pathfinders have that same TPS/shift relationship?
Thanks for any input.

Yes, the TPS can cause shifting issues as can a dirty MAF sensor and in some cases, a restricted fuel filter.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will investigate if you can set the TPS as in the Quest with backprobing.

Another issue. When cold started, my RPM will go low to 250 to 500 for only a second or two and then raise to 1100. Is there a problem I can look for. I'm wondering about a sticky plunger in IAC. 97 SE 256K
