my 91 z32 fights me to get into 1st gear and 3rd. ive extended my throw on the rod into the master all the way but it still seems like the clutch is not getting enough throw. not sure if i should go after the master, slave, disc? the clutch grabs just off the floor and its dead pedal from there up. any help would be great!

What kind of shape is your transmission and clutch fluid in? I just replaced my transmission fluid a few days ago with Redline MT-90 and replaced/bleed my clutch fluid with Motul RBF600 since I was experiencing similar shifting problems, and it took care of them immediately. But most of all, proper pedal adjustment can make a huge difference. It sounds like the clutch petal is adjusted way to far down, try to adjust it further forward so it will grab a little bit earlier.

fluid is clean and full, transmission has about 100k on it. if i adjust the pedal up it will extend my throw so not as much psi would be put on the master in turn even less on my throw out and disc no?

I would try this before looking at anything else. Also would suggest bleeding the system from both bleed points just to rule that out as well.

If that doesn't work then you would probably want to start looking at the other stuff. Have you noticed your clutch slipping at all? You can check the slave cylinder by rolling back the rubber cover some and seeing if it looks wet at all, if it is then it's leaking and needs to be replaced. The master clutch cylinder they make rebuild kits for that are around $20 bucks and probably wouldn't hurt either.

thank you, will have to get under there this weekend. the clutch doesnt slip at all in any gear. i think it may be the slave, going to pull back the boot and hope for the best.

thanks!
