I have a 1993 Nissan 240SX SE Auto transmission. Between 1st gear and 2nd it shifts hard, I either have to give it alot of gas and go fast for it to shift right, or go slow and baby it into 2nd. After that, it's fine in the higher gears.

Is there a self-diagnostic mode I can put it in to figure out this problem? Could it be a solenoid maybe? Any help is appriciated.:thinker :help

i read somewhere that it's normal with the 240's for the automatic transmission to shift hard....not sure if it's specific to the lower gears but if you search the forum you may find the information you need....

theres a little plug next to where your intake filter should be that you can unplug if you realy want to feel hard shifting;)

not good with auto transmission, but i've learn that an Actuator on the transmission controls the harsh shifting.

see if that plug is connected. it is behind the airbox and infront of the sturt tower. Though if it is your car seems more peppy with it unplugged than without it. If you can handle the jolting around.
