Hard shift between 1st and 2nd, solenoid maybe? Help!

I have a 1993 Nissan 240SX SE Auto transmission. Between 1st gear and 2nd it shifts hard, I either have to give it alot of gas and go fast for it to shift right, or go slow and baby it into 2nd. After that, it's fine in the higher gears.

Is there a self-diagnostic mode I can put it in to figure out this problem? Could it be a solenoid maybe? Any help is appriciated.

Its most likely your transmission going to the ****ter, rebuild time (although you can get a used one for cheaper than a rebuild). Also you can drain a bit out and put some trans-x in, and chagne the filter/ATF if you havnt in a while.
