ok i repaired/reinstalled XP pro on my computer, without formatting my hard drive. i have two hard drives. one with the operating system on it (C), and (D) to store pics/files/crap (no os). when i get my comp up and running again it has switched hard drives on me, my storage (slave drive D) now has the os system on it, and so does drive C. so basically i want to change it back to the way it was, IE get rid of the OS on slave drive and have the other drive become primary again. i dont mind formatting drive C because i have my important stuff saved on drive D. anyone help me out??

Just transfer everything over to drive C and then format drive D!

Yeah, transfer to C, format D, transfer back to D, format C, install OS on C. Should take a couple hours.

Check the jumpers on the back of the drive. Try swapping the drives to the other connector on the IDE cable.

Make sure that the drive you want to be your C drive is the only drive in the computer when you do the OS installation. After the OS is installed, put the other drive back into the computer. You'll probably have to go into Disk Management and switch the drive letters around, because your CD-ROM will most likely be D:, and the secondary (non-OS) drive will be E:.

Your first 2 logical drives (C: and D: if you have it) will go before the cd rom. If you put in more than three, they go after the cd rom but your computer should automaticly change the logicl drive naming.
