hard drive navigation

has anybody had a look on the hard drive, where the nav map is located?I'm thinking of a way to put newer map (in my case a totaly other map, europe) data on the nav system without the use of the consult 3. The idea is to buy the map dvd from Navteq and patch it on the hard drive and than put the hard drive back into the vehicle.

what are your thoughts?

I looked everywhere including the service manual and could never locate the hard drive. I also did the speed sensor override and still couldn't locate it, so my guess is that its actually inside the stereo. When I took the stereo and screen out of the dash, there were only a few locations it could be. Either in the stereo or in the screen. I would believe it'd be in the stereo more than the screen.

The hard drive is physically located inside the head unit. Many have tried, but all have failed. I believe the closest anyone got is imaging the drive contents onto a PC.
