I just spent a whole Sunday on my POS s13. I changed oil, transmission gear oil, and air filter. Modded stock airbox, removed compressor and all lines, and AIV.

Who needs a working compressor for 91 DOHC? It says Calsonic. Air worked fine, but I NEVER use it. My windows roll down. I would like some offers, but will sell very cheap AND pay shipping. Also have some of the hoses that came off.

What about the EGR(?), is ti the metal pipe going into intake? Can this be removed?

When I changed my gear oil, it had large amounts of shavings on the plug magnet, maybe 1/8 inch of sludge in bottom of transmission. I put 75-90 in, but it is not synthetic. I thought a 91 car would not come stock with syn, but now when I shift, I can feel it click into gear. Is this normal? I can change to Mobil1 syn if needed. Also the idea of adding fluid through shifter hole is neat, but in practice is moot because you cannot access the front 2 bolts.

Car has a small increase in top end from airbox mod/ AIV, but a loss of torque. I cut a 3 inch hole in front of lower box directly above the 2.5 hole through metal plate. Cut off the plastic tube going into hole at the Y where it meets the tube from headlight hole. I am fabbing a small scoop to fit the vent in air dam with a aluminum tube (3 inch) going through hole in metal plate into air box. Will this help?

Make sure that is not gl-5 certified transmition fluid that you put in. I don't have any experience with the myself, but from what I have read on these boards it will eat up your synchros. Should use gl-4 certified instead.

Have no idea, bottles are in trash. It is Coastal from AutoZone discount rack, but will change to Mobil1 Synthetic this weekend. How will oil eat up metal synchros?

If I had a camera, I woul take pictures of the wicked RHD s15 in my town. I thought all work had been done on my car when purchased, but it was only air filter, oil change and new tires. I had 160,115 miles when I changed the transmission oil. Sludge was nasty. No emissions testing in TN.

I know the stuff you are talking about, i also found it at the discount rack at autozone. We needed GL4 for my buddies lancer and the only thing you can even find anywhere pretty much is GL5. Either what you bought it GL5 or a multi-grade gl3 gl4 gl5. We certainly didnt pick that up because its soiunds pretty shady if it covers all those grounds. We had to run to mitsu to get GL4. Even all the Mobil1 we saw was GL5

Clicking is a good sign your sychros are going, and i'm not all entirely sure that synchros are metal at all, but I can't remember too well. Either way don't underestimate the abilty to destroy those synchros. a click will turn into a grind at full load shifts, and eventually you'll shift and just blow up the synchro, and then you'll lose the next one, and then soon the next one, and even sooner the last one.

I still have my fifth gear synchro... and thats all. Heel and toe double clutching rules! yeah no, not so much, but you'll get used to it. i'm not sure how cashed your transmission is, but if its GL4, GL5 is bad news bears for it.

i believe that our syncros are brass.... and GL-5 eats brass... go to NAPA and pick up some GL-4 redline... they should have it... but its like $7 a bottle

I think the additives in gl-5 (maybe cleaning additives) eat up our synchros, which are either brass or copper, I forget now. MIght want to read these two threads zer...age=1http://forums.nicoclub.com/z ... d?id=89599

That almost makes me want to destroy my synchros. Sounds very badass to HAVE to double clutch. Well that and noone I know could drive my car. So when friends ask I could just say something like "well you can try but if you grind gears at all thats it."

lol, absolutely thats what i say.... plus its my security system, can't G-up a car you can't drive.

and to be fair i don't have to double clutch into fifth... but its kinda hard to race anyone when you need to let the Rs drop about 2000 before you can grab second gear, i lost one very embarassing race due to this, and everyone must think i have no idea how to shift, plus all the unnecessary reving you have to do on the downshifts people just must think i feel my car is so badass everyone should enjoy the sound...

i'd also like to note that 7 dollars a bottle is pretty far out, and solid, and right on cuz the dealer is gonna charge pretty much that same price, and autozones bogus crap is more expensive

If you absolutely can't afford Redline MT-90, try the Pennzoil Synchromesh. It's cheaper but also very good.

No one wants a compressor? I will take $20 plus shipping for a working Calsonic.

Where in TN are you...My brother will buy the compressor if it will work on a 96..Not sure if they are different or not. Hell, if you are close enough to pick it up, I may just take it as a spare for my 93... Ler me know, I live in Knoxville.

S13 compressors only work on S14s if you get the bracket that bolts it to the engine, or else only two of the holes line up, and its slants up and a ridiculous angle

get the bracket and do it up (you need the S13 one to work on the S13 compressor

I have the bracket with the tensioner pulley, compressor, ans some fittings and hoses. Also have a condenser at extra cost. I live in Savannah TN. Zip is 38372 if you have an online atlas. I am 2 hours south of Nashville, close to the intersection of US 64 and US 45. If shipping is cheaper than gas to go to the meeting point, I would rather ship, but it is up to you.

No takers? Have other parts also. Will have a perfect running (as close as there really is for a KA) DOHC motor soon for sell. $900 for motor and transmission w/ drive shaft. You come drive it for a week if you want before I pull it.
