I can't get my Z to start unless I hammer on the gas pedal. Then, when it does start, I have to keep giving it gas for a couple of seconds because if I just let it idle the engine dies. Temperatures have been below freezing here for some time and that is only making the process more excruciating. Today I couldn't get it to start at all and gave up on it for fear of killing the battery.
If I can get my car running and drive around for a while, getting the car to start up again is fairly easy, so long as the car isn't left to sit for more than 4-5 hours. It also will idle fine for me too after a good 15 minute drive or so.
not sure if this has anything to do with it but the problem first started around the fall, I pulled out one of my tb's to change a belt and ever since i put it back in, the starting has been intermittent, some days it would start up right away without even cranking and other days it would take a few seconds, and now that winters here it rarely starts in the morning.
my guess is a bad fuel pump or iacv? it's weird how it starts up normally when under operating temperature but not when it's cold.
(I have: New spark plugs, new coolant, full tank of gas, new starter and lightweight flywheel)
Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!!
