I've seen several post about the hard acceleration rattle. I had the same issue with mine, and had to get the y-pipe replaced and the catalytic converter(s). it took almost a year to trace the rattle down. dealers thought it was heat shields, loose exhaust tips etc. it took me going to a muffler shop to properly get the problem fixed..

thanks for the welcome....I hope this topic helps someone because it took me a long time to pin point where the rattle was coming from on my car. it was very frustrating hearing it time after time.smh I'm so glad it's fixed.

Thanks for the post. I had another source of rattle from the same place. I turned out that I had picked up small rocks that were on top of the muffler heat shield in the course of normal driving. Their rattling around was causing a lot of noise. Once I figured that out and a way to clean them off my rattle went away.

I took off the plastic pan (under the spare tire) and then I could use one of those brushes for refrigerator coils to brush them all off. The plastic pan had about 20 small rocks in it that were rattling around, too. Once I cleaned all of those out, my rattles and noise from the rear end went away. It's been at least a year, so I'll probably do it again in the spring.
