Anyone experience a periodic hard shift from 1 to 2, under moderate acceleration?

I don't drive the 130 much, the wife does.

I experienced a gut wrenching 1-2 shift, sunday & she said it happens, periodically.

2000 I30t

The car has been dealer servcied, since new, and they checked the tranny fluid, and it was still bright red, so not to change it.

46,000 miles on the ODO.

I have thougth about a flush/change, or some additives, but hesitate to do anything to the car.

The 1-2 shift usually slips some, then shifts, but this time it starts to slip, then, BANG!, like an old Camaro, with a B&M shift kit.

there is a tsb on this condition which could be the TCM need to be replaced. The tsb also mentions a shift solonoid kit if other conditions exist..I do not know the TSB off the top of my head. I will be in tech school out of town the rest of this week if I get a chance I will look it up but usually at tech school time doesnt permit.

Sorry, no

I have called the dealership, but have not coordinated a date, to bring it in. I don't drive the I30t, my wife does.

It is on my "to-do" list.

I will post, as soon as I get it in.

I was in a rush, and didn't have an appointment, so I didn't ask for more than the regular oil change.

I will bring it up, when I get the next service done.

sounds like the tranny is shifting at full line pressure. I can't remember the name of the sensor, but the harness is right behind the airbox and if it is unplugged your tranny will shift VERY firmly. Friends do this at the race track with their maximas. They call it the drop resistor mod.

Yeah, but if the sensor was bad, it would do it all the time instead of occasionally....???

according to the bulletin I mentioned it only does it above half throttle. That would explain it being intermittenly

Can you tell me what the TSB number is, or email me a copy of it? My servcie manager wasn't aware of one on the tranny shift.

I would like to have it wit hme, or at least tell him the number, when I talk to him again.

Thanks.

By the way I know the bulletin reffers to slipage but the repairs I have done the customers complaint was shift shock not slippage. upon driving the vehicle my self it seemed more like a late shift which felt like shift shock once it shifted.

I dont know if I messed with something else... BUT, I experienced the same thing, periodic (more times than not) violent 1-2 shifts. This was starting to bug me, a lot. I played with a few things, and for no real reason changed out my TPS yesterday. I have put maybe 100 miles on it since, and it has shifted beautifully ever since. Coincidence? I don't know enough about automatics and their crazyness to know - but I am happy it shifts nice now instead of at full line pressure from 1st to 2nd.

The TPS plays a big part in how nissan auto transmissions shift. It moniters it to determine shift points. There was actually a TSB on cel codes related to trans and the cause was the TPS. This TSB only applied to mid 90's nissans not his I30. I cant recall any TPS related incedents on the A33 at all.
