Thanks for the post. Made me take a second look at my old jack stands to be sure of what I have. They weren't the Pittsburgh stands from Harbor Freight but with seemingly random branding of so many identical products from China, I double checked mine to be sure they didn't have the failure mode flaw as described in the link you posted. Not to take anything like this tool for granted, your post is a critically important heads-up. Thanks again.
