Hanger thing at the end of the exhaust manifold/header

Can I cut that off? Its the peice that supposed to screw down to tighten the grip around the header collector. Mine is loose, and since I need engine mounts, it makes this loud rattling noise. Its been welded (the nuts) twice to kill the noise, but it still makes the noise. So its rusted and welded. Can I just cut it off?

If you are talking about what I think you are talking about, I believe it is there to prevent too much movement/vibration from the exhaust - so it saves your exhaust mani bolts from busting loose.

However, if yours is non functional right now, cut it off - you're not using it anway.

Or you can try to wrap it in something like heat wrap so that it is not a metal on metal rattle.

Yeah, I think tightening it up would have the opposite effect on my exh. manifold. Because of how bad my engine mounts are, tightening it would be bad. When my mechanic was taking my starter off, he was lifting up and his arm was pushing up the intake manfold and LIFTING MY ENGINE on the passenger side.

LOL, I agree, but I dont have the money for the new mounts + labor. Plus, I was kinda waiting to see if I was gonna do a ca18 swap.
