I am looking at swapping a 1JZ into my s13 vert' but I am scared to because of the added engine weight. I can upgrade springs on my coilovers in the front to battle this, but will ther ever be a way to fully combat the difference in F/R weight distribution?

This is my drift/autoX fun car btw.

If I don't do 1JZ i will probably do SR20, but i want to do 1JZ because it is more reliable and much more powerful to start with. I don't want a V8 unless its a 1uzfe so don't tell me to go LS1

thanks for the help!

Not enough weight difference to really matter.

You'll probably be making other changes in the front to reduce weight, so it's even less of an issue.

Suspension tuning will be key when you're done, but you'll be doing that anyway for track use.

there's really not that much of a noticable weight differance, atleast that i can notice with my 2JZ swapped coupe.

only thing i noticed is it gets nose heavy when braking, i haven't done ALOT of hard corning driving with the car since it's on a drag radial but it doesn't feel bad.

not trying to sound like an ***hole, but there is ALOT of drif setup 1/2J 240/silvia's out there now so i don't think you will notice a differance.

plus from what i've gathered a fully dressed 2JZ weighs about 50lbs less then a dressed RB26.

If i ended up with the 1j i would upgrade to z32 or r33 brakes on all four corners and increase the spring rate in the front of the car (if I feel a problem with what i have now). I would probably also get a wider tire size in front, and back of course too.

Haha not quite but still pretty light, my girlfriends dad and I picked up my turbo short block out of the back of his truck and set it on a skate board to get it into the garage!

I think that the 2jz is heavier then a KA, I thought that was the general consensus.
