I was just "joy riding" with my friend's inegra on one of the roads in my town, hacienda heights. I found it to be difficult to handle the rough road plus turns. I felt like I was about to lose control.. Is all the infiniti cars like that? or its just the coupe?

the coupe is very touchy around uneven turns. when i know im about to hit some kind of obstruction around a turn, i dont hold the steering wheel when i hit the bump because the car jerks too much, and my body moves with it and my hand may make the car swerve. in dirt or gravel or uneven pavement, i just make sure to pay attention to my gas pedal pressure

I'm confused...were you driving an Acura Integra or an Infiniti G35 coupe? My G has never felt out of control in any circumstances.

I love the handling in my G! Big difference between the G and Integra. Much more power in the G...and it's a rear wheel drive car. More torque on gravel = less traction

Generally speaking, cars that are tuned more towards performance have this trait. You want more response from a steering wheel when you turn it? Well, it works both ways. The imperfections in the road get transmitted back to the steering wheel as well. Stiffer suspensions also have a harder time staying in contact with rougher roads. The car wasn't designed with maximum comfort or anything close to off-roading in mind. It soaks up bumps well enough for what it was designed for, butNissan/Infiniti has no way of defying the same physics that race teams have been fighting since racing first started.

I was driving the G.lol..I was wondering, will I ever go to fast and the rough road screw up the tires which I might spin out? What I mean was that when I am turning, on rough road, the rough road makes the steering wheels shaking and I felt I was about to lose control. I know this car curves the turns like nothing. I was just wondering because thats how I felt last time I drove.

Another question, does anyone of you guys know about intakes? I am thinking to get an intake for my car because my gas seriously sucks ***... I know I shouldn't say that because for that kind of performance I should never complain.. But I really don't want to ask my parents for gas money. So for that, I am thinking about getting an intake just to make my gas more efficient. I heart that if I get the whole thing, I cannot get a car wash and I have to be aware of raining day because if the water goes in then I am SCREWED. Anyone have any suggestion? :]

LOL...your gas sux because you probably hammer it everywhere you go! I know...it's hard not to.

For intake information...go here zerothread/207927

Pretty hard to get them wet unless you open your hood and dump a bucket of water on them. My guess is you WILL go through more gas because you're going to like the sound when you "punch it"...so, you'll be doing it more often.

As far as your steering wheel shaking?? Are you sure it just wasn't a really rough and bumpy road? that's a lil odd.

I sometimes question my decision to get a G coupe with the sport suspension. The roads here in Nor Cal are in disrepair and seem to be getting worse. I feel like I'm constantly dodging pot holes to avoid damage to my car. I do love my G but the car feels like it breaking apart on the rough roads. For commuting, I should have picked up the G sedan for a smoother quieter ride.

A car set up with a lot of steering feedback is advantageous in this sense as it will give you signs of when the car isn't gripping the road. I wouldn't push towards the absolute edge on this type of road surface. Only drive as hard as you can be comfortable doing.

lol..thanksare you sure that the water is hard to get in? Because I was hearing stuff from my friend who has a tiburon and he told me that the intake is right behind the wheels. So if the water gets in, water damage the whole engine.. your car is DEAD.. That scared me, thats why i was so concern about getting an intake or not..Do you personally have one? on the G35??

You or you're friend will be hard pressed to find any front engine car with any filter location behind the front wheel relative to the car. Most CAI's will locate the filter in front of a front wheel, but there will be a wheelwell liner in there to guard against splashing. Most CAI's will be reasonably well guarded against splashing, and even then, it's unlikely that it will be a large enough quantity of water to damage the motor. Generally, the danger mainly comes from driving through water deep enough to submerge the filter. It would be unwise to drive through a puddle that deep even with the stock intake as water will probably be entering the interior of the car at that point.

I'm positive! I have one myself as do most people here go here

zerothread/207927

scroll down and look at the pic of where the filter is situated. It's damn near impossible to water damage. Your friend I'm sure had good intentions but is mis-informed about the set up of the G's CAI
