Allrite,

SO I got this ac/heater controls that I wanted to change for a long time. TO change them, I had to disconnect my cd player and I noticed that the map lights and the instrument gauge cluster lights went off as soon as I pulled the power off my cd player.

After connecting everything back, I noticed that the hand brake light stayed on. Sometimes, if I took a fast left turn it would go off, but if I hit a bump, it would go on again and now it stays on.

As a side note, the lights on my new heater/ac controls wouldnt work, but if I tapped it ever so lightly, they would come on.

I searched the site and people spoke about break oil and all that stuff, but everything is fine, I just think it could be the wires on the ac control.

Suggestions guys and where is the switch for the handbrake that activates that light ?

Well, I'm not sure whether you have a S13 or S14, but on the S13's, the switch (a primitive spring loaded switch) is housed right under the hand brake itself. Not sure if that's your problem or not, but just a piece of knowledge in the puzzle . . . :-)

you sure your master cyl is full? I dont believe anything in the a/c controls is associated with the e-brake switch the wire runs along the counsole from under the shifter area. maybe you pulled the wires when you removed the dash peices.

Yup, check your brake master cylinder to see if it's full.

Once the hand brake light stays on, 99% of the time it's the MC.

Thanks guys, it was the master cylinder. It looked full from the outside, but it was close to empty. Filler her up and now things are fine. Thanks once again.

hmm, close to empty brake fluid might mean that your brake pads are thinning out... might want to check if you got worn pads & do a brake job...unless you got a leak somewhere
