Hey guys going to be getting a ka-t tuned here shortly with a haltech e8 and gm ls1 coils. Is the standard turbo plug (BKR7E) going to be acceptable for use with the gm ls1 coils? Never dealt with anything like gm ls1 coils or a haltech for that matter so please excuse my ignorance

You'll be the first to use the LS1 coils on a KA on Nico as far as I know. What made you go this route?

Well my friend bought the setup used and it was supposedly on a ka-t previously. I was provided a box of parts and asked to install the goods. I was kinda under the impression that ls1 coils were the standard for haltech e8.

They may be the standard, but not to many KAT guys run the Haltech system.

i'll post a video later of a ka-t running an e8 that sounds pretty solid if I can find it.

As long as the people tuning it on the other end do a good job, I dont forsee any issues. The haltech doenst utilize a detonation sensor to monitor knock so care has to be taken when mapping the spark timing as to not overadvance

No EMS does a good job with the 80-90's nissan knock sensors, they are garbage.

Sounds like you bought scooters setup.

Lots of KA's run Haltechs, just not allot of people posting problems with them like the aem.

As far as your Q about the LS1 coils.

You are going to want to use ISO standard plug wires to connect to the coils, so make sure you have ISO tips on the plug wires, and ISO plugs to push the plug wires onto.

Or you could make your own wires, and go ISO on the coil, then JIS the rest of the setup.

Make sure the dwell is set correctly.

What other sensors did they give you to hook up?

John

Also, We make a plug and play harness for the E8 to the S13 KA. You just remove the factory ecu harness.

Any love for the S14? Plug and play = win IMO.

we wanted to get rid of the factory engine harness and decided a flying lead harness would be the way to go. It was already terminated for nissan ka24 so it was relativley straightforward except for the shortening of a few leads/ connectors.

look at related videos of this car. It is a beast, nothing can touch it. Not even blown mustangs with 4 extra cylinders
