The aftermarket radio is worth maybe $200. Its a discontinued head unit from a company in New Zealand. It flips forward to allow an iPod to go inside it where it is docked and charged.

The thieves were very polite and used a screw driver to remove the dashboard and head unit. They didn't make too much of a mess. Fortunately, the Jeep's doors were unlocked. A new top or sail panels would have been expensive.

My Saab was parked next to it with the top down like always but they didn't touch anything. Taking my JVC head unit is quite simple -- you grab it, pull it, and go. I didn't secure the tabs or anything.

The cops are out there now lifting fingerprints. Chesterfield MO has the friendliest and most responsive police department ever.

Damn that sucks.
That seems like a super awesome feature for the iPod too.
:( Hope they catch the fools.

My neighbors all have nicer stuff and more money than I do. *shrug* Probably some dumbass suburban teenagers sniffing around. I dont have the box or serial number so its long gone. Its a pretty rare unit that sold poorly in the US (it was way overpriced, I bought it on clearance), so if one shows up at any local pawn shops, its likely mine, but I cant prove it.

No biggie. The iPod that was in it wasnt worth much either.

Nah. Its a used Nano. Its probably registered to the last owner.

The Jeep belongs to my roommate but the stereo is mine. He still owes me for it.

I would be surprised to see it turn up at a pawn shop. My bet would be some kid is either putting it in his car or selling it to a buddy at school for $50. Just be glad they didn't tear the hell out of the car. Cd players are pretty easily and cheaply replaced compared to vehicle repairs.

Jesdar!
I've been cruising Wal-mart's website and found the headunit listed on there, and on sale.

Just thought I'd post it. :couch

That's a neat feature for holding the iPod, but with the way apple changes them so often it would probably only work for a couple of models.

They continue to release new cartridges/holders to accommodate new models.

Now that is cool! Even a discontinued product is getting support!
