idle never stays the same and car is rough on idle...

ive cleaned the ECCU opening and throtle valve outreplaced my lines to my BBT valve and ne others thatwere worn out...

had a new connect for my mass air flow sensor put on..

still idles like crap...

also when the car is reving down from higher RPMs,the exhaust gurgles a lot, sometimes even does littleback fires (well pops and sputters are more like it)

mabey a spark plug is missing, or grounding out through the plug wire, I had a ford escort gt that did that all the time, and mabey you just need a good injector cleaning, (professional) or your points are drty???

Pull all your plugs out and replace them, while your at it, replace the plug wires and check your 02 sensors, make sure the wire is connected, not frayed or cut, and that they are tight in there and not broken off in the bung hole or anything.

20w50 is pretty thick for the 240, its supposed to run on 5w30. I dont know if it will make that sort of difference though

ummmmmm no

my engine burns 5w-30 up like paper

its pretty weak ****

i dont know what it is on a newer KA24de but on the SOHC KA24eyour meant to run 10w-40 (that fact came straight from nissan)and besides, when u have an older car, its usually a good ideato run heavier oil and gear oil than intended. given im pushin over100k miles, my car likes thicker oil and gear oil. i put 5w-30 in itonce and lemme tell yah, my car ran like something was MAJORLYwrong, it stalled, hiccuped, rattled like hell, basically it REALLYdidnt like that lightweight crap. I drained it and put 20w-50,purred like a kitten again.

as far as i know as well, the SR20det runs like **** on ne thing lighter than 10w-40, buddy o mine runs his on the same oilas mine and he said it did the same thing with 5w-30, burned it up, put 20w-50 in and purred like a new engine.

20w-50 is GOOD stuff

Check all your fuel injector’s connections and maybe clean them with cleaner. For sure check the ECU temp sensor clean that connection as well.

There is some misinformation on the subject of oil weights in this thread but its too late for me to feel like typing up a one pager So here's a link:Even tho the link doesnt address the root acuse of todays thin oil weight recommendations in the beginning there are some decent discussions later in the thread:http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....=oils

I starts out as a thread about brands but quickly evolves into a nice Q&A about oils to include weights. If anyone has a question not answered there I will glady field it.

Fred...:)

PS: dj you are essentially correct.PS#2: kcar please read the linked thread in its entirety, if you have the time.

oh BTW k-car...

the whole oil and gear oil weight thing came from my foreman...

he was a nissan A+ cert. technician for 25 years..(he movedto honda cause they offered him a bigger salary the damn traitor)

i no longer work at honda but i did retain what knowledgei could from him...(i got so sick of those stupid cars their total**** boxes natural aspiration is so over rated)

and as far as taking yer opinion next to his...ill choose his

no offense meant

its just i trust someone with 25 years exp with nissans specificallyover someone who ive never met and have no proof of their skillsunder a hood...

DJ: Dont judge him too harshly.

There is a lot misinformation out there on this subject, and thin weights got a lot of play in the last few years, when manufacurers discovered they can lower their CAFE penalties, by just switching to thinner oils than they recommended for theose same engines just a couple of years back.

Fred...:)

PS: Some good oils w/ good weights for almost all engines/seasons.,http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....=6610

I would like to post my vote of confidence with 10w30 for lower mileage 240's and 10w40 if you got a little more lieage. I dunno where he got that 5w30 idea wrong, never heard of it for a 240.
