I'm looking for a manual boost controller. From what I read Hallman makes good quality.I'm looking to turn up boost to about 15lbs max. I'm fine with leaving it under the hood going to set it and leave it.What do you guys recommend on them there is different series and don't know which would be best. When I upgrade later on I'll be buying an EBC. Or if you guyss have better ideas on what I should do.Getting IAP kit. Wastegate comes .5bar spring.Thanx for your help.

Hallman does make a good mbc, my friend has one on his dsm, never gets any boost spikes or anything, and its easy to use and set up.

I have a "Turbo XS" MBC...got it used for $50.

New, it's some rediculous price like $135...and it's not that great. It's a bleeder valve plus a ball-and-spring in one controller...and works OK, but I've had better results with the 'Joe-P' and the basic 'Hallman' controllers.

For an MBC...K.I.S.S...keep it simple.

The basic Joe-P is $45, and paying more for any other "features" is a waste.

Joe P vs Hallman, which is better??

I found the Hallman on their site for $75. Buschur Racing sells one for $75, and it might be exactly the same as the Hallman unit. http://www.buschurracing.com

I've got a Hallman. I like it very much, it's rock solid (when I turned my boost up there was no creep. I know that has alot to do with the wastegate but poor quality boost controllers can cause it too)

I'd say look into Hallman, DNA, Joe P. all are good MBCs imho.

a good place to price check is http://www.dsmtuners.com they have a 'mods' page that lists staged mods, in stage 1 there's a section for boost controllers w/ site links for vendors. I'll look it up when I get to work later and post the exact link.

not to hijack the thread but i just wanted to confirm that the vacuum tube that is directly opposite of the knob goes onto the wastegate itself and the vacuum tube that is perpendicular to the knob goes to the T off of the compressor housing right?

ES

no problems (except I failed to tighten down the retainer nut and the adjustment bolt vibrated loose and I had to replace it)

I'm using a 52mm Greddy electronic boost gauge. cheapest price I found was at Cardomain link <they have a store. I dont recall the price but Im happy w/ everything.

ok, so i did some research and i need to get something cleared up. do i need to tap into that original line that runs from the wastegate to the T on the compressor or get rid of it completely? my previous question was based on the install instructions of the turbo xs mbc. i have a joe p mbc btw. Ive also seen where some people tap into their BOV line. Im now confused so some help would be great.....

(edit) colored lines for clarification, red line is boost ID, green is signal to wastegate)

run a line from the compressor housing to the nipple parallel to the adjustment bolt. from the nipple perpindicular to that same bolt, run a line to the wastegate. the only reason I tee'd off was to run a boost ID signal to my BOV (has two nipples one is for the manifold one is for pressure to make the action more crisp)
