i was wanting to get a shell 240sx and get a sr20det. and i was looking around and found half cut cars. im in love with the silvia look and was going to me on my list of things to do to my 240. but the half cut of a silvia seems like a 2 in 1 package. so my question is

1. with a half cut car what do u exactly do with it? do u connect it to a 240? or my best thought is to just use the peices off of it..

2. what should i know before buying a half cut?

3. any good advice would surly help

4. is it cheaper to just buy a car with the conversion already done?

anything would be much appreciated

wow, what a newb. its called a front clip. you neeed the radiator support bumpers, hood, lights, headlight supports & fenders to convert to a silvia front. that is 1/2 of the car. & they do this so its easier to dismantle & sell the necessary parts needed for a swap.

i have seen people weld in front clips to 240sx's for RHD. but thats the only pro in my opinion of cutting and welding two cars together.

Ok. First off...No need for the flaming. Front clip or half cut its the same f***ing thing so chill out. Anyway...IMO its worth buying a front clip due to it being cheaper and you have all the parts you need for a swap. If you looking to convert your car to RHD and you need to cut your firewall out and replace it with the one on the front clip. I did and it turned out great. If you cut your car in half you might as well take it to the junk yard. That might be the most unsafe idea ever. I would never risk my life by welding 2 cars together.

On a side note. Next time you have a question use the big Search button before you post, it will save you alot of time and trouble not to menchen all the flaming.

Half Cuts Comes What Ever A Reguler Front Comes With Minus The Rims

Most Half Cut Cars Your Able To Start IT. So I Would Make Sure It Runs

And Yea It Is Cheaper Just To Buy A Car With A Conversion On It.

Think About It A Rust Free Shell Goes For Like $800 And UpHalf Cuts Go For $2000-$3000 (S13)$5,000-$7000 (S15)Installing It Cost Like Another $1000 (Or You Can Do It Yourself)Upgrading The Parts Goes For $2000

You Can Get A Clone S13 For No More Then $4000 (Well In NY At Least)

It depends on how much you know about cars. It is a pretty big project that many people cant do on their own. You cant just drop a motor in and expect it to run. I guarantee it wont work the first time. Theres going to be alot of trouble shooting. If I were you. Do ALOT of research before you go through with anything. Its going to cost a good bit.

The good think about the clip is that you get to see some of the condtion the car was in. IE KM's and general maintenance. I would get a clip.

^^ those are good points right there. if you are going to buy a clip & it does run, have a mobile mechanic to a compression test & maybe a cylinder leak down test before you buy it. also if you buy a clip, you will have the cluster, entire engine harness, hopefully a awesome jdm digital climate control, & a bunch of other goodies. if you are not skilled with mechanics i would not attempt a whole clip swap. but just converting the front end should b easy enough.

i say get a good clip, convert the exterior. rip out the sr from teh clip & tear into it to see what condition it is in. rebuild as necessary & then swap. it will prob save you headaches from sticking the motor in, and blowing it cuz its used, then having to rip it out again & b w/out a carrito. ka's are indestructible when treated & maintained right. just a thought
