Maybe these idiots should worry more about the kids' educations and less about how they wear their hair.

Makes me want to shave my pubes and mail them to the school board.

At first I was like:

Well maybe its messy and he doesn't upkeep it...no it looks like he has it clean and styled...

well maybe he's acting out...no its for a great cause because he plans to donate it!

What's wrong with this school? I mean this kid sounds like he's well mannered, well educated, and acting on behalf of others. Guess they just wanted some negative publicity to come their way

Are schools not allowed to have dress codes then?

Perhaps this kid could apply for a special waiver.

Stupid people are a safety issue in shop also, but they don't ban that.

Meh, this is probably some kind of private or charter school. They can get away with stuff like that.

There's got to be something missing here. How does a 17 year old kid suddenly end up in trouble for hair that's too long? You don't grow that length of hair overnight. And the dress code already existed. Did he get away with it for a while and then get called on it? Did he just transfer to the school? Has he been warned several times and ignored the warnings?

Stupid rules might be stupid, but getting mad about their consequences after being warned is still silly. You knew, you defied, you deserve the consequence. Maybe you should have done something BEFORE you decided to defy the rules if you felt they were stupid or that you deserved an exception.

I understand that this kid is trying to do a good and noble thing, but at the same time dress codes and hair lengths are there for a reason. Schools have uniforms now and hair length restrictions to reduce bullying and prevent crime. To allow one student to bend the rules just because it's for a good cause is a double standard. I for one am a huge proponent to school dress codes, can't pick on the poor kid if you all are wearing the same clothes, can't bully the alternative/emo kid if your hair all looks the same. Can't rob the rich kid if your all restricted to the exact same uniform.

Having been the poor kid I can attest that not being able to wear the same name brand clothes as the other kids leads to a lot of harsh things having been said to me when I was growing up.

Nope. Some kids are gonna say mean things and pick on others no matter what, clothes or whatever. The intended purpose be damned. Kids are cruel little bastards ready to bring their peers' esteem down just for kicks.
