It was about 15 degrees outside this morning. Unlocked the door, went to open it and it was stuck. The door was not frozen shut, it opened a bit as if it was catching on the door mechanism, but would not fully open. Pushed it shut, locked, unlocked and still the same issue. Went around to passenger door (which opened fine), started car, and when I came out 5 minutes later, the driver's door opened. Must have thawed.....!

My car has lived outside for the last 6 years... The door got frozen shut one time when there was literally 1/4 inch of ice on the outside of the car (freezing rain+wind)..

Never has failed to start in cold weather...

I remember reading on a forum somewhere that silicone spray on the rubber weatherstripping on the doors can help prevent them from freezing shut. I was actually thinking of that the other day when my doors got sticky after washing off the road salt.

I actually froze my gas door shut last winter after I washed and drove it out into the -20C (-4F) cold. I had to use a hairdryer thaw it out so I could open it. :gapteeth:

My Q has never had a problem starting in the winter cold. I've started in temperatures as low as -30C (-22F) without a problem. Having a block heater really helps though, but I have started it a few times in those temperatures without using it.

I solved the problem "this time" by spraying some silicone lubricant into the lock mechanism on the inside of the door jamb.
She opened just fine this morning.

We're all a bunch of weather wimps here in California but 42 degrees feels awfully cold when you live close to the ocean (as you do)...all the moisture in the air chills you to the bone. Makes you want to take a trip to the snow just to warm up.

Our Q's antenna doesn't like freezing weather either. I destroyed about 3 masts before taking the advice to unplug the motor and leave the mast in the down position during the cold months. It kills the AM reception but the FM works fine.

Your right, we're having a huge storm now and it is 55 degrees :) Of course the Sierra's are getting bombed hard so cannot wait to go "visit" the snow and ski on it :) My Q has never tasted snow...never will. I don't think my YR 245/40 19's would do too well.

A Q hasn't lived until it had a bite of snow! :gapteeth: I took my Q45 out for the first time in about 4 months today and we got about 4" of snow on the ground. It handled very well in the slippery white stuff. :chuckle:
