after just spending $500 on my car the other day... today the brake booster crapped out on me. it was pretty scary too. on the way home i noticed my brakes felt a little funny. then proceeded driving... going DOWN a big hill and stomping on the brakes going WTF IS WRONG WITH MY BRAKES with nothing happenning. to make it worse there was a line of cars in front me... and all i could think of was... this is going to be one big accident. luckily my ebrake worked though... so after driving carefully and slowly back home i tried to narrow down the problem

started up the car... popped the hood looked around and listened. my brake fluid was full, so i wasnt leaking anything. but i heard a hissing noise around the brake booster... so i thought the hose was screwed up. got back in the car... pressed on the brakes and my car would idle pretty rough... so it had to be something wrong with it. after about 10 minutes of thinking... and saying screw it, i took it to the shop

they told me it would be like $450 for an oem brake booster . but they found a rebuilt one for $200 instead . then they slapped it on and $250 later i can brake safely

damn random failure of the brake booster ... i hope nothing else goes wrong with it at least for a few months lol

thanks for reading my rant

Damn dude, that's like $1000 in just a couple of weeks. You could be driving a brand new Q45 for less than that.

Do you have ABS? If not, brand new OEM booster from one of our sponsors is $323.53. Keep them in mind when you need parts!

thats like $750 within one week i think. the other $500 wasnt because of something broke down though... just decided to fix some things... like maintenace. it just so happened that my brake booster failed.

yeah, i was keeping the sponsors in mind... but i had to kinda fix the problem right away. i didnt want to be driving around with partial brakes... esp with the rain now... and the crap *** drivers around here

$750 in a week, that does suck...Hopefully your car doesn't give you anymore troubles anytime soon. In my case, I'll be blowing alot more than that in the near future. I gotta replace the engine in my '91. Don't have tools or garage. My apartment complex does not allow tenants to work on their cars.

Ahh the things I have to look forward too...

Reminds me of when my brake master cylinder went out in my chevy 4x4 in the rain. Downshifting was the first thing I started doing. Luckily that first gear is geared pretty low. I was only like 3 miles from home at this point. I have been blessed with a large amount of luck when it comes to problems in my life. I'm always in a position to make it out alive!

could a bad brake booster be causing my rough idle?

Yep. Vacuum leaks suck and don't suck at the same time.
