I am parting out a 1992 Q45. Once I had removed all the parts worth selling, we decided to take a trip through the woods.

BTW I still have a bunch of parts if anyone is looking...

I wouldn't think there is much left of that oil pan after running over all that brush. I wonder if the engine was worth salvaging before running it hot and also what it had on the clock.

Not to worry guys, this car was never going to be streetable again. It had title issues so it is impossible to get a tag. 279k miles, and when I bought it the whole interior was covered in a thick layer of mold from sitting in the woods with a leaky sunroof. The engine has worse than a leak, it is more like a constant oil change.

Part of the car will live on, the suspension is going to be used under my 1950 Ford.

I understand... they are older cars and some of them need a lot more work than others.

I have to admit I thought of banjos playing in the background (the movie Deliverance) when I saw the first video. :rotfl

and what makes it even funnier - the setting for the movie is in Georgia and Deliverance was filmed along the Georgia South Carolina border. "Squeal like a pig boy!" :rotfl

Maybe just a new patio table :D

Honestly, If I had scavenged everything I wanted off of the car and I had some land, I'd have fun with it too. It's a machine, not a person... there's no "going to the shredder with dignity" for cars.

As far as what had to be on the car to drive it and would still have value, be sure to pull the throttle body. Assuming it's a non TCS model, you can sell it for at least $100 on ebay. Many aftermarket intakes are designed to bolt on that TB. Leave pigtails for all of the connectors and spend a few minutes cleaning it with brake parts cleaner to get the most $$ out of it. The fuel pump controller and MAF might be worth something too. Sometimes people sell the MAF and TB as a package on ebay. Also I'd talk to Wes to see if he wants to buy the ECU as a core for a NICO ECU.

I guess I should let you in on my master plan for the car. I am keeping the drivetrain and suspension and repurposing them to go under a 1950 Ford. It will be used as a fun track toy. It won't be built for any competition series because there is no rule book that this project would ever pass but it will be a lot of fun to build and drive.

I Photoshopped how I want the final product to look. Imagine seeing this at the drag strip, autox, or drift event:

Ahh... I think you did mention that.

I'd love to see some pictures of the '50 Ford as work progresses...

Very cool idea for sure. You could name it Quistene.

Historical Trivia - 1949 - 1951 Series Fords - Total Production Numbers 3,338,860 (all body styles)

It cost $72 million and 10 million man-hours to develop the 1949 Ford. On June 18, 1948, at the start of a $10 million extravaganza that brought more people to Ford showrooms than anytime since the introduction of the Model A, the car was introduced at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City to huge crowds. Regional showings around the country were held a week later. During the first day they were on sale, orders were taken for more than 100,000 cars, and it was months before Ford was able to catch up with the back orders.

Production came to 1,118,308 cars (more than 100,000 ahead of Chevrolet's 1949 total) and the company made a whopping $177 million profit from the 1949 Ford.

The next steps are to cut off the roof and rear quarters. Here is the current progress:
First test fit before cutting, not even close

Started removing stuff that was in the way.
