I currently have the Bose internal 6Cd/cassette/radio unit, and it looks very large (to me anyway).

The replacement must have an aux input. Ideally, something that is factory, or looks very factory to reduce the chances of it getting stolen.

Any suggestions from anyone as to what kind of deck I can put in this car?

Will this work with my 2003 Infiniti i35 with the internal cd changer and no aux in? If yes, then this is the sol'n I've been looking for.

I know this may sound silly, but you can get an 02 or 03 Single In-Dash CD player with CD changer controls and add an aftermarket Aux In. to support your iPod/MP3 player.

Here's an ebay auction for the single in dashhttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

And here's the Bose AuxInhttp://www.logjamelectronics.com/pacaainis.html

And there's also a guy (qsiguy) in the Q45 sub-forum that makes them to play your iPod through your HU and charge it at the same time.

Thanks! This may be the best idea I've heard yet. For some reason, no one makes the aux in adapter for the 2003 Bose unit that's in my i35.

How can I be sure the older will fit in smoothly with my dash?

The '00-'01 I30 and '02-'04 I35 have identical dashboards. I've been looking into swapping my '01's HU for an '03+ 6CD changer and I know that's a direct fit, so the reverse swap would also be a direct fit.

My apologies for being dense, but are you saying the 00-01 i30's will take the same unit as the 02-04 i35's? Or is the commonality among the years restricted to each model?

Are they also plug compatible? ie: Does this mean I could get an aftermarket aux input kit for a 02-03 Nissan Maxima~02-04 Infiniti I35~00-01 i30 and the kit would also fit my 03 i35 with the bose?

You can take an '00-'01 head unit and put it into an '02+ I35.

I'm not sure about this one, but I know the I30 head unit has an input for the trunk-mounted 6CD changer that the I35 head units don't have. Beyond that I don't know much about the wiring, hopefully one of the more knowledgeable members can answer this one.
