Play me another sad song son 'cause i'm not buying this one. I wasn't there so I can't verify anyones side of the story, but let me give you a little hint about how the police work. RESPECT, HONESTY, & COOPERATION will get you very far.

Let's try this for a little lesson... I even taught my 2 year old dalmation most of these simple commands, so I think you can learn them too...

1) When a cop tells you to "sit".... YOU SIT!2) When a cop tells you to "Stay"... YOU STAY!3) When a cop is questioning you... YOU SAY YES SIR(mam)/NO SIR(mam)4) When a cop is escorting you somewhere (like to his car to book you)... DON'T MAKE ANY SUDDEN MOVEMENTS! Any movement by you can and will be received as a threat... these guys get jumped on, spit on, yelled at, shot at, swerved at and swung at everyday then they get no appreciation and are biched at by the public when one of them makes a mistake. The last thing they need to deal with is a disrespectful, overprivelaged, pubescent know-it-all with little manners.

Maybe if you spent a little more time respecting authority and less time trying to fight "the man" then you'll find that your life goes a lot smoother and you don't get as many knocks along the way.

I know that I probably sound like some old phart who is on you, but I'm not... I've just experienced a heluva lot more life than you... One day you'll know where i'm coming from.

Very wise advice. You would do well to listen and understand it. Remember, the cop doesn't know if you just robbed a liquor store or are coming from church.

I would add to those points the following:1. Never ask the cop to hold your beer when reaching for your license.2. Never say to the cop, "you aren't going to look in my trunk are you?"3. Never say "Aren't you that guy from the village people?"4. Never say "I thought you had to be in relatively good physical condition to be a cop."5. Never say "Sorry, Officer, I didn't realize my radar detector wasn't plugged in."6. Never say "Is that belly from all the donuts?"

If you were beat up by cops, then I'm sorry that happened. However, I must agree with ArizonaG35 to stay out of hot water just do what the cops tell you to do. Unless your DWB in an upscale Cali neighborhood, most cops aren't looking for someone to beat down.

I'm sorry you got "beat up" for doing nothin'. Man, happens all the time. I just drive around in my CV, see someone and just beat them up "for nothin'". Guess it was just your unlucky day to be breathing.

( squeeky attorney voice: the above is fictitious and use for parody in light of content ) ... in tween-speak -- pwnd, j/k, lol, roflmao.

Agreed, hate is pretty strong. Try disasspointed that the cops didn't show up within 15 seconds after your G got jacked; disappointed that the cops took someone (or you) to jail for jacking something that didn't belong to you; disappointed that your relative died of a heart attack because the cops were'nt funded with AED's and had to try to save his life via CPR only (<--you'll have to look up those acronyms); disappointed that your dog got hit by a car from that speeding car in your residence and there were no cops running speed detection devices ... and the list goes on and on.

Now, I wasn't necessarily fond of po-po when I was 15, 16, 17 (and inadvertantly knew many of them on first name basis); but I respected their work and what they did. Hell, obviously so much so that I went to school, joined the Army and eventually became one of them in civilian life. It's a good time and I can still do the right thing, while pursuing the bad guys. Who could ask for more fun? You thought running your G at 3-digits was fun? Try it in a "old mans" Crown Victoria (that's what "CV" means) trying to chase down one of our G's.

Yea, our G's are fun and I really hate to see any dings on them, but man, you just don't know fun until you do it legally. What is it ya'll say? "Don't be hate-tin'"

OK, WhiteyClay, back on topic. I hope we see the "before" and "after" pics when you get your baby fixed. It sucks, but it was just an accident, nothing more. Still my professional opinion is that the cop was right in just about everything, except getting you checked out and charging you for the minor infraction.

Let me refresh your memory: "about cops....d!ck came out". Does that sound about right? Anybody in the profession would stop and ponder the whole scenario, take a look at the damage, the person, the conditions, etc. This is an open forum and commenting on what I believe is a BS story is what I'll do. Yes, it was an accident, we've already established that the day you posted. I didn't judge you, I made observations based on your own words.

You can come on here and slam cops left/right, no worries. We're supposed to have thick skins. Just be prepared to have me call BS on some of this crap. It's funny, since you were "outed", suddenly your profile changed to being 28 and you're missing the pictures of your car. Waddup wid dat? K, gonna 'bounce' now...

Apologies if I'm coming on a bit strong Mr. Moderator, I tried not to bash anyone, but point out the obvious. I know I'm new here and supposed to just "lurk", but I call it as I see it when I see / read BS. Again, if anyone's feelings were hurt here ... well ... that just sucks for the thin-skinned and maybe the truth hurts.

some cops are cool. the ones who judge you as the stereotypical teenager and decide to play hard *** with you are the ones i hate. they do nothing for me or the cause. but i myself am 20 ive spent 6 months in prison over soem mistakes as a teenager and during that time have gotten to know some really cool down to earth ;laid back cops. then on the other hand i have gotten to know some d!ck up their A$$ im better then everyone ( who are you talking to me???) attitude cops. like the world revolves around them. and im not dissing anyone. i have a strong millitary background in my family (west point graduates) i myself am in trainging to be a firefighter. so dont think iv got soem internal anger towards cops. but its just some of these super head swole respect my authority sir yes sir cops who need to be "steralized" if you would..... just my .00000002 cents. that i think some of you here can agree with me on

G'd ... I'm with you. You've heard the word "officer discretion", well, sometime that phrase and common sense don't enter some officers minds. They are pure by the book without taking into account some circumstances. ... but ...This also happens everywhere in our society. There are by the book answers and solutions and then there are (investigated) common sense answers.

Keep in mind too, I believe our society has become more violent. Officer safety is at stake. Example: if I went to a shooting in the 'burb, and there was a guy pointing a gun at someone upon my arrival, what do I say? "Excuse me... Excuse me... please stop assaulting that person". Think that would be effective and they would stop?. Nope. More like "STOP MF! DROP the GUN or I'll blow your A$$ away!". Some people don't respond to being nice. Being forceful in that example would probably be more effective with the perp knowing that the cop was not BS'n around.

I'll have to come up there to Cobb County and look you up. We can grab a ... umm ... soda (you said your 20) and talk it out. Firefighter? Dang ... you can have it bro. Unless my favorite pair of jockey underwear are on fire, I stay away for the flames.

lol yeah cobb county and cherokee county cops are notorious for being d!ck. but thats partially due to to the fact that all they see is tenagers getting into trouble. then they see me (pretty much a teenager) driving and when they pull you over they suspect that your the typicall and treat you like one. and i completely understand about the responding to the situation the right way. but theres more to it then they think.... but for the most part its because they have nothing better to due. I.E. me and a friend were driving in kennesaw last weekend and we got pulled over for making a turn and turning into the outter lane of a two lane road. i mean how bizzare is that on top of that they automatically assume that were high or something so they search the car and completely dump my new set of golf clubs on to the pavement with no remorse like just grab the bag and turned it upside down i mean what am i trafficking cocaine in golf clubs or something jeezzzz.... but you seem like a cool guy, im sure you can understand what i mean by these d!ck head cops. but in a sense they deal with it everyday so they expect it. so how are the teenagers in mcdonnough???

Off topic...can a cop search your vehicle without a warrant?? Isn't that unlawful search and seizure? Does he just have to "suspect" something to search?

Same as any of the other burb in the Atlanta area, 'cept we have more good old southern boys down here. They love their meth...and some of them f*** it up so bad, we have to call you guys (firefighters) after they blow up the kitchens.
joe603 wrote:Off topic...can a cop search your vehicle without a warrant?? Isn't that unlawful search and seizure? Does he just have to "suspect" something to search?
Depends on the search. Most of the searches that I do on the scene are "consent" searches. If I establish reasonable and articubable suspicion and ask you for your consent to search the car and you say yes, well, I search the car. You would not believe how many dope/gun runners say "yes". I'm not talking about finding a 5 inch blade ... or a joint or baggy in the car (yea, they do too...), I'm talking about pounds of the stuff, neatly packaged for distribution and sale. Guns too... whole trunk fulls. There's also a safety search. If perp is all jumpy and I can reasonably explain why, then I search for weapons in the immediate control of the jumpy guy (including jumpy passengers). For the most part ... and this is important: articubable suspicion can (and does for me often) be established and validated on VIDEO. You can bet that I'll have a camera running if you are stopped.I LOVE the video. It usually proves my case without me having to say much in court. It's also a defense arguement as well, so, if the video shows something other than what was reported, the defense can use it....

OK, caught myself rambling ... sorry ... back OT.

so let me also clear this up. if i were to get pulled over for say a traffic stop and u ask to search my car, but i do not consent. then unless you have probable cause then you are not legally allowed to search my car correct???

Yep, you are protected by your 4th Amendment Rights (free from unreasonable search and seizure). Saying that, remember, if my training and experience leads to suspicion, I can do an investigative detention, get a dope dog out and have him sniff around your car. If he alerts ... probably cause for search without consent. Dope dogs are very good at what they sniff for and are fairly busy.I've always wondered (if I wasn't a cop) what I would do if an officer asked me that question. Do I invoke my 4th A rights and be a d!ck about it, or do I just jump out and let him at it. Knowing me, I'd evaluate the officers demeanor and professionalism and then make the decision.

Dude I let them search the vehicle cuz i had nuttin to hide....but let me ask you something....... You come to an accident scene and you see a person is injured....what do you do? Do you confront the man about smelling weed and jump into the vehicle and start sniffing around....Or do you ask the man if he needs an ambulance....?I do know plenty of cops in nyc....and all of them said that those cops didnt play by the books...even if I was wasted ( drunk of my ***) first thing you do is ask if i need to see a doctor unless im unable to aswer you...

I wouldnt know what your response would be but the cops that responded to my accident were BIG @$$holes...and thats all...
