Alright, i ordered a 2.75 id alum pipe from onlinemetals.com. i hacked my maf and jb welded it to the pipe. i also put in my 370cc injectors and walbro fuel pump in.

now my question, will my car run really rich until i put the turbo on? i bumped up my idle for now just to keep the car running but damn is it running rich. i plan on running a tial 38mm wastegate w a .4 spring i think it is(w a t3 turbo). just wanted to make sure that it was ok that i was running pretty rich on a stock setup besides the injectors, hacked maf, and walbro. thanks for the input.

Make sure there's no leaks...my car was lean under load with the 2.75" ID.

And the beauty of a MAF setup is that it meters ALL the air coming in, so a lot of air under boost, or half that while N/A...it will compensate accordingly.

It wil run no different if the MAF tube size is correct for your setup...boost or not.

so in order to not get a lean condition what should i do? i read your wrtie up on the hacked maf and you suggested the 2.75 id pipe. is there any way i can run this or should i get a smaller size?

Could be different for your car...who knows.

But N/A, mine ran great with a ~2.875" ID MAF tube. I'd bet you have some other issue causing the rich condition...bad O2 sensor, too high fuel pressure, etc...

the egt gauge will not tell you how rich you are running. how do you know you are running rich?

the exhaust is really smokey and before it wasnt at all. the idle also stumbles a bit so i bumped it up. also, you can smell gas if you put your head near the exhaust.

pull the injectors and check the o-rings. mae sure when you install them with a screw driver to very lightly tighten them. bascially liek a finger tighten with a screwdriver. if they leak from the intake mani when you do this jsut tighten them a lil more

i found the culprit... when i put the hacked maf on i didnt think it was nessary to hook up the pcv vacuum hose. well i was wrong on that assumption. i put my finger over it and the idle smoothed right out. i ended up blocking it off with a bolt. what should i do when i get my turbo on though. should i still leave it blocked off?
