I bought some 90/100 watt h4 bulbs and different headlamp housing for my 1977 280 Z. I am curious, do i need to run new wire and put in a bigger relay. I want to reach the full potential of these bulbs. So whatever the work required i dont care. I just need to know whats necessary. Please help!

If your wiring is in good shape it should work. I've never had problems with the headlight wiring in my Zcars. You should definitly ad relays to the light circuit. In some years of the Zcar, full headlight current runs through the light switch in the steering column. Not good when each high beam is pulling eight to ten amps.

Other problems.

Do NOT use cheap bulbs. Changing bulbs is a PITA and the cheap bulbs fail often. Stick with Hella or Osram. You will be happier.

Be carefull not to overload the electrical system. Depending on your car, your alternator is either a 45 amp unit or a 65 amp unit. Big lights, fog lights, stereo amps, blower fan, plus windshield wipers far exceeds the car's capability. Your fuel injection will shut down at 9.5 volts. Car no go.
