h11 headlight upgrade

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I upgraded my headlights to 5000K HIDs. the light output is amazing compared to the old bulbs. I used a 35W Kensun digital slim kit. I also upgraded my foglights with a 3000K HID Kensun brand Kit.

There are quite a few of us here who have upgraded the stock halogen H11 bulbs to a plug-n-play HID kit. There is a little bit of work involved, but pretty much everyone who has done it here feels it is worth it. I thought that the stock halogen setup was inadequate for night driving where I live, so I'm running a 4300K 35W kit from XenonDepot.

There are a few halogen bulbs that are considered upgrades and can put out a whiter light; I didn't bother with them because those bulbs don't seem to last that long and I don't think it's that easy to access the low beam bulbs when changing them out.

And we also have the new guy in town, LED bulbs. Not many of us here have tried them as a headlight upgrade, maybe one or two guys if I recall correctly. They'll definitely put out a whiter light than halogens. Light output might be better as well. I don't know about their longevity though. If you want to be an early adopter and try them out, let us know how it turns out.

Don't try LEDs. I have tried three different sets and tried them on three different cars. I put them in both projector housings and regular reflectors. They are plenty bright (when you buy the proper kind, which most don't do) but they do not distribute the light properly and there will be lots of hotspots and dim spots. I ended up getting rid of the LEDs and went for the morimoto HIDs from The Retrofit Source. They distribute the light properly and they are the best quality kit I have ever seen. They also have a 5 year warranty. I would go with those.

Here's the link to my Headlight upgrade thread:

For my lo-beams I went with RetroSource H11: Morimoto Elite HID System - spec'd XB55 (50W) & H11B: XB 5500K - I am VERY VERY pleased :chuckle: with the improvement.
