Okay, I have a '91 240 Se and it has the h.u.d. When I was looking at the car before I bought it, it didn't work when I drove it. The second day I looked at it it worked. Now I have the car and it doesn't work. Is there a way to fix it? Or would it be beneficial just to run a aftermarket speedo or like a Apex'i rev/speed meter? Any help will be muchly appreicated. Thanks.

try looking at it again. if that works, ive got a bunch of **** i need you to look at.

what do you mean when you say it doesnt work? does it have power? is the speedo just not working?

this reminds me, when i first got my 240sx, my speedo intermittently worked on the way home. once i got back, it went out for good. a few days ago when i went under my car to grab the last 2 bolts for my b&m shifter, i noticed that a connector on the top of the transmission was disconnected. after hooking it back up, i noticed that the clip that holds the two harnesses together was broken. i applied some electrical tape to keep them together, and bam, speedo works.

i just got a 240 and my speedometer doesn't always work either. it usually has to warm up first. is it just a connection?

yeah... that's how they tend to be.

something about the amount of heat/cold that gets to the connection that determines if the connection will be made, thus causing the HUD to work or not.

Everybody has these problems with the HUD.

I mean it doesn't work period. I don't see anything displayed. Is it just the connection or is it just tempermental?

Yeah I checked out the link, it looks like it can be very useful. Hopefully by replacing that capacitor it'll solve the problem, we'll see though. Thanks guys for all the help.

If thats the case i dont see why everyone just doesnt switch to an analog gauge cluster. Seems like so much headache to keep messing with it.
