H.U.D problem..searched and confused

Well my Heads up Display finally conked out on me. It Doesnt light up on the dash so it also doesnt light up on the window. I did some searching and it looks like I probibly will have to soder some wires. The thing is when I turn on my car my H.U.D comes on for like 8 seconds and then it fades away. Is this likely a problem caused by a loose connection and will be fixed by some sodering? or is it something more serious?

I would try to replace the capacitors on the HUD's circuit board search on here and google.

You may be sol, unless you have a huge understanding of circuitry. If it is on, then goes off after like 8 secs, then its prob not a loose wire, cause when a wire gets loose, the unit will work less and less, untill it finally stops working. You can always replace the cluster with a non hud one. It wont have the coolness factor, but they are more reliable.

or you can go to http://www.everythingnissan.com and buy a new printed board and have it sodered on. I think they have them for 50 bucks but don't quote me on that.

I personally bought a analog cluster from the classified section here on NICO to replace my non-working HUD.
