How can you tell if the tires you have on now r h-rated tires?

On the sidewall of the tire, there is a tire size listed. Next to this, there is listed two very important things:

1. Load index

2. Speed rating

From TireRack:Over the years, tire speed rating symbols have been marked on tires in any of three ways shown in the following examples:

225/50SR16..... 225/50SR16 89S...... or 225/50R16 89S

Each of these was an acceptable method of identifying speed ratings.

The 'speed rating' for "H" is 130mph.Many of the tires we use come with "V" rating. Some brands come in both H and V rating.

I'm still miffed over the Z W Y thing...

If its Y or W, its Z, but not all Z's are Y or Y, but could be either..and a Y is a W and a Z....

....

GHEY.

Get V or better if you can afford it. THe higher the speed rating, the elss load reduction occurs at higher speeds.-CHet

yeah it's odd.

(99Y) is higher rated than 99Y
