how much does it cost to install springs and what's the best way to estimate if it will rub when dropped by 1 or 1.5'' ? I was looking at the wheels the other day and dropping by 1'' would still have a fender gap of about 3/4 inch. Have to actually measure it but ..... I'm planning getting 19x8.5 wheels ....... thanks

Well if you drop it 1.5" from my mild understanding... it shouldnt rub... well you never want it to rub...

Anyways the 19" isnt a problem pending you arent on 55 depth tires lol...

The issue is the width of the tire and more importantly the OFFSET.. if it "tucks" under the fender you are cool, but i have +35 offset... my tire would be ON the wall..

so it'd be better to get something like +43 to ensure it won't rub right? I guess I should let the rear tires up on the curb or a speed bump and put a few ppl on the trunk to see how far it dips, that'd be the worse case scenarios right?

i'm interested to see how the ride quality would be. one of my friends had a Mitsubishi Eclipse that he lowered and that thing was horrible! it was bouncing all over the place! i know some arn't that bad though. my A/C is my daily driver so i'd like to improve the handling and make it look better but i don't want something too stiff where i'm going to get annoyed with. if anyone gets this done i'd really be interested in hearing how the ride quality is and how it feels on corners VS stock.

Wouldnt changing the spring height effect the suspension and F* it up?? I.E - Causing more work for your dampeners?

I believe that Eibach has lowering kits available for the 08' coupe out now. Every time i've lowered my cars i've gone with Eibachs! IDK bout that H&R lowering springs, i would go with the eibachs instead. Also, i don't think that a 1-1.5 drop would cause major damage esp. if you've got stocks. I've got 20's on mine, but regardless, can yall's keep me posted on what the best drop is....

Yeah, I saw that H&R's were available, but $349 is a rip-off!! I saw it on another site for $209 or somewhere around there. I would personally go with Eibach Pro-Kit's because of past experiences. Eibach's are progressive rate springs (I believe H&R is too) with only a 1" drop. 1.4" looks very nice on any car, but I don't want to bottom out. 1.4" is a bit of a drop and will put more stress on your stock suspension, wearing the components faster.

Here is a great write up comparison of Eibach vs. H&R: http://www.tirerack.com/suspen...d.jsp

sweet. Yea i was thinking of 1.5" drop-> 1.4 is close enough! I'm thinking of lowering the front first and seeing how it looks, i have a feeling that my back is going to rub... i had that problem with my '06 Altima... Oh and for sure I'd go with the Eibachs, no doubt!

according to the write up comparision of the ebiachs and the h&r springs it sounds like they're pretty even. Once i get springs for my car i'll probably go with the less pricier ones. h&r's dont seem to be much better than the eibach's or vice versa.

Exactly. The two are very comparable, but then it boils down to the little things like price and asthetics. But, you have to keep in mind the bigger drop which will lead to premature wear on your suspension components. I ran Pro-Kit for 3+ years with no problems. The guy who bought my old car had the same srpings on for a couple more years. The only thing that wore were the CV boots, but that's very minor. They usually wear around 5 years or so anyway so I can't blame the springs.

could someone please make recommendation on this last question

I'm going to get 19x8.5 wheel. The available offsets are 38 or 45. If i plan to drop like 1.4 or 1.5'' Which should I choose? Is 45 a safer choice? Thanks!!

+38 and +45 will not rub. That's only a 7mm difference and at 8.5" wide, you should clear.

thanks! is there an advantage on 38 or 45 even if they're only 7mm apart. If I get 19x9 then I would need to get 45 ? sorrie for too many questions, I just had to make sure cuz i'm not sure hehe

+38 will stick out more toward the fender than the +45. 19x9?? ooh...that may be a stretch. I'm just guessing, but I think you may get some rubbage with a +38. Don't know about the +45 though. I'd just stick with 8 or 8.5 if I were you.

I was planning to go w/ 8.5 at most but just wanted to know if there was an advantage on 38 vs 45. Would one break easier or something

haha no, one will not break easier The +38 will look better in my opinion. My wheels are 18x8 +45 and I added 8mm spacers, essentially making them a +37. It's almost out to the fender lip, but I want more!! I may drop the 8mm and go with a 12 to have it sitting flush. That would make my wheels like a +33.
