H.I.Ds shorted out tail lights? No blown fuses

I don't know if the H.I.Ds killed the tail lights, but something is wrong. I replaced the tail lights because the driver side blinker stayed illuminated. I left the lights turned on. As soon as the bulb made contact the H.I.Ds went out and so did the tail lights. The Break lights still work, but not the tails. Somebody help! There are some speaker wires in the back that are not taped up. Could that be an issue too?

With the info you gave sounds like a short... Did you install the HID's recently? Are the ballast's properly mounted ?
