Gwoods Jesda style China Biz trip in April

I spent some time in Hong Kong and Tianjin last month for work and took a buncha pictures you may find enjoyable.

Most American's have some misconceptions about China (Asia in general).

I stopped in Hong Kong first... this is the view from my room. Hong Kong is exspensive comparably to LA or NYC.



There is a lot of fun to be had in HKG, very decent night life, many shopping areas

If your rich in HKG you have a very nice car this is a pretty standard traffic jam. 730li BMW 330i BMW, a Mercedes and a Land Cruiser. Most people use cabs, the train or buses. I walked most places because I wanted to experience HKG and I'm cheap. Cab rides are 100-300 HKG $13-40 USD. A ride from my Hotel to the airport was 300.

Almost everyone in HKG speaks English all the signs are in English.

Some of my co workers, I'm the giant American commiting the taboo touching.... I've worked for one Asian company or another since 1999 and know and understand the culture. However when you have worked with me for over 5 years your going to get touched.

I'm a part time vegetarian and a very picky eater but I ate really well.

Tianjin subway station, cute little dog attacked me but since it was about 1lb no issue.
I walked the streets of Tianjin for about 2 hours and many people were walking dogs.


Smoking room in Tianjin airport, yep the door is open. Many people in China smoke and the air quality is bad by the time I left my throat was very sore.

My XF cost about 72k here in the US, it would cost 322k in China. I saw one!
One of my co workers in Tianjin has a newer BMW 330i he paid 60k US for it.

I flew home Tianjin - Inchon South Korea - SFO - PHX. I was a little nervous to have a layover in Inchon during the height of our North Korea retoric.

Pretty decent sized blood stain on my hotel room floor in Tianjin. I changed rooms.

I forwarded the picture back to my Phoenix office and titled the email. " make time for hugging comrads in science logistics park" for looking so unhappy on the way home we all 5 + the driver shared a cab back to my HKG office and the littlest one sat on me so I guess it was all good.
