After a lot of research and a meet with the guys down at Sound Performance, I've decided to throw on a Powerlab single turbo kit this winter. Just seems more practical with my power goals. With that being said, are there any concerns about running a vented hood on a turbo setup with thermal shock from rain water ect? The easy conclusion is CF OEM hood but thought vented would help overall heat soaking.

I don't intend to drive the car if it's crappy out but I'm sure the occasion will come along where the car will see some moderate rain fall. A friend of mine had a reverse cowl hood on his scion tc and everyone came to the conclusion that the rain water cracked the cast iron manifold and welds on the dump tube. Anyways, that aside, are these real risks or nothing to worry about? Seems like any water on this hood would pore right down onto the turbo piping. Thanks for any opinions.

don't know abotu how the turbo's fare but I do know that vented hoods on Z33's had led to siezed sparkplugs, requiring a head pull and a machine shop visit

My brother has the same exact hood on his Z.If you are buying that exact hood through Seibon then no worries. They have a one-piece cover from the inside of the hood. You can remove it by twisting 4 small screws.

So if you leave the covers on then you wont get any extra cooling but rain wont be falling inside your engine. But if you want the cooling then just remove the plastic pieces but dont drive around in the rain I guess
