Okay guys, I know this should be in the technical or mechanic's section but I'm leaving in like the next 10 minutes to get one and put in some of that lovely valvaline 5w-40 oil in my baby, however I cannot seem to find any place around here that sells vavaline filters. So, what, in your opinions, are some other good oil filters? I really just need to know what to avoid mostly. I know Mobile 1 and K&N's are good, but they're alittle pricey and I'm tested for money right now so I need a good moderate priced filter that does well.

Anyway on a lighter note, I could be getting my car fixed for alot less then I had previously thought. My best friend's uncle does body work and If I help him do it I'll get it done and painted at next to nothing :D however the pop up headlights will be expensive, so I dunno about that. MIght go for the sil80 front end yet.

Fram makes a decent filter, but you won't go wrong with a Mobil 1 if you don't mind spending the money.

Good to hear you're getting your car fixed!

Later.

No, Red, dammit I'm not going to be able to make the trip. My social planner has me booked for a large bonfire gathering Saturday night where we will be paying homage to the gods of barley, yeast and hops.

And nothing wrong with an OE filter. They're just not typically available at your local parts shop.

I think I'll go check and see if anyone has an OE filter, and then I'll probably go for an AC Delco filter cuz of the reviews I've read it got the highest ones for the price

I always get my liters from Nissan, I read somewhere that aftermarket oil filters for the KA motor aren't the friendliest. If I come across the srticle, I'll post it, but I read that a long time ago, and always went with OE ever since (was using FRAM). I pay about $9 CAN, so you guys should come to Canada and trade beans for oil filters!

:D

It has a strong detergent package, so unless your engine is very clean expect it to darken within a couple of days picking up some "gunk".

I might be wrong but most countries do that were the ones who are a little different that is why we are still using standard measurements instead of metric

do a search in the 240 section and in one of the oil filter discussions i posted a bunch of threads we had in the infiniti sections on oil filters. Q45tech posted some good links on filters. if i remember right k&n and mobil1 had almost identical constructions...coincidentally made at the same plant to. Mobil1 is probably easier to get a hold of so either will be good.
