Due to the influx of "I Wrecked My Car" threads I feel the need to start this thread. I really don't wanna harp on anyone, nor do I want to be a buzz kill, but for real guys: be careful. I am 21 and I have as much testosterone flowing in my veins as all of you (except HKC...she dosen't count ;)) but use your head!

- Seatbelts are there for a reason! Use them!- Street racing/drifting is like playing Russian Roulette. It is not a matter of IF you will get hurt/killed...it is WHEN. Not to be sadistic, but Russian Roulette at least only puts you in danger!! Remember that!- Check your tires every time you fill up! Crappy touring tires can literally wear out seemingly overnight. If you pull from a stop and don't even romp on it and you lose traction in the wet, get new tires! (those of us that have Falkein Azenis need not apply)- Learn car control. You may think you are Keiichi Tsuchia, but you aren't (not an insult to you guys that are;)) If you think that something would be bad *** to try on the street, it is probally illegal/dangerous. -Don't just mod your engine! The faster your car gets you going, the less able your stock suspension/brakes/chassis is able to cope with the power. Plus, you get to add stuff to your sig;)

Mods: I think we should (as a community) make a concerted effort to keep threads that condone dangerous activities to a minimum.

This goes with the checking your tires and handling mods.....get GOOD tires. dont go cheap and get some nasty old sundried tires cause they drift better. if you are going to drive like an idiot, have some good rubber on your wheels to at least help you stick to the groud a little better.

the fact is... they (meaning people who buy 240's not knowing their handling capabilities) feel they know how to drive and drifting isn't a skilled that is needed to be taught slowly... they also feel the need that they( younger drivers) are skilled masters at driving and that streeting racing involves going fast in a straight line and if there is traffic to yank the wheel and pull a fast and the furious... and its becoming more and more of an annoyance to those that do drive carefully... i'm sorry but i have no sympathy for those people who do believe that they are skilled drivers when indeed they are not... and when the worst happens.. they blame the car when in fact it was their lack of skills and knowledge of the handling of the car.... yes accidents happen... yes things break without knowing.. but when something is intentionally done at a risk that is known and they don't take precautions to minimize the risk.. then they indeed do deserve a lil taste of reality... and whats worse are these movies and cartoons that depic drifting and other sorts of racing... using technical terms to make it seem more realistic are becoming the "Drift Bibles" and "The life of a streetracer" manuals for young kids.... this is my opinion ... yes you make criticize it all you want but i'm pretty sure the majority will favor what i say...

I totally agree with you. I think my biggest complaint is all the guys joining who say they have a drift crew and have mad tyte skills when all they're done is drive around in a parking lot late at night with their equally dumb friends taping it and they think because their back wheels squeal a little that they can drift. and i think most have seen the celica GTS vid where the guy in NY was racing around in traffic doing some VERY dumb things....

yes... and saying that he was being safe when he almost clipped a van... a neon that was owning him and the fact that it was a group of them that were doing it... and the sad part was the fact that they treated it as if it was grand turismo or need for speed... unskilled teenagers+ car that they should never own till they are 40+ movies and video games= the need for cops cracking down on stupid drivers and the increase in young kids insurrance rates

I thought I was a skilled enough driver to overcome most anything. I still think I am a pretty skilled driver, but I'm not the badass I thought I was. I think that sometimes the only way to get it through our heads is to be scared straight...I remember after my first accident I lost all confidence in my abilities. And to this day I won't pull half the **** that I used to when I had my coupe....nor do I plan to...not unless I have a wide open area with little to no bystanders....AND NO LIGHTPOLES DAMMIT. (*cough* controlled environment*cough*)

Not all young kids are stupid like that, so saying that young kids insurance should be increased is retarded. Yes I agree a lot of young kids are stupid drivers, but there are almost an equal number of retarded older drivers too. I am 20 and think I drive very responsibly and know what my car can and can't do.

For example I was pulling into a parking lot and almost got hit this week by a dumb biatch. She had a stop sign and I didn't, but she must have thought I had to stop for her because she's god or something. So I had to swerve around her and slam on the brakes and she looked at me like I was an idiot. Stupid bitc*.

I agree with rico - Be careful out there, guys.

I have a guy I work with that was pissing and moaning to me:

His wife drives a new Alty, she ran a red light, and was hit at 28 mph. Guy is all bent outta shape because the car is totalled.. "Stupid Jap car, POS, damn tin can, it shoulda held up better, blah blah blah."

I informed him that a 28 mph T-bone collision is usually fatal, and it's not the car's fault - The Alty is a solid NHTSA performer. He continues to rant, so i leave him with this:

"If your dumbass spouse had been paying attention, there wouldn't be a scratch on the car."

He don't like me too much no more. :D

I think thats a very safe car if you get T-boned at nearly 30mph and don't have a scratch on you. How the hel* does he expect a car to hold up in a T-bone, what come out with a busted fender and thats it?? Some people are idiots.

better than his wife driving a tahoe and not being able to slow that massive monster down fast enough. i dont care how big of an suv you drive, more mass=more potential energy which means more cars and telephone poles needed to slow you down.

I hate that insurance rates for teenagers are high. In my expereince, old people drive ALOT worse. At least teenagers have good reflexes and eyes, maybe they don't make the best decisions with them, but regardless. I can't stand the way grandpas drive. Did you see where that old ****er plowed farmers market in a buick and didn't even know it a couple of months ago ? I also hate that society pushes street stunts more and more these days. Fast and Furious, and 2Fast 2Furious as well as tuning shows that show off fast cars on the street. Kids think its okay. To me whats worse than the magazines/movies/shows/etc is that we have dads, uncles, brothers and sometimes granddads/etc telling us stories of "when I was your age I had a big block _____(insert muscle car here) and we used to meet everynight on main street and race..." . I have had personal expereince with street racing. Both while driving, and while riding in the passenger seat; And I can tell you some close calls !!!!

I'll stop ranting now.

EDIT: Okay...I got another rant;*****S IN SUVS!!!!!!! I hate when Joe Yuppy buys Cindy Yuppy a suburban because its "the truck to drive" and the ***** couldn't have drive her honda civic is now stuck driving this monstrosity. What's worse is they have the attitude (some of them) of "I can only keep so good of control in this thing,so if something happens OH WELL because I'll crush any car in my way..."
