Has anyone gutted the stock airbox instead of buying an aftermarket intake on their 350z? I know people do it alot on other cars but I havent heard anyone doing it on a 350z. Im thinking about gutting it and dropping in a K&N. Will an aftermarket intake be any more free flowing then doing this?

What are your future plans? If you plan to buy a CAI then maybe save up for that and save on a $45-$60 K&N filter that could later be useless.....

I would say it would have significant airflow but wouldn't be as good as a CAI because colder air is better. Just depends on you, and what you are looking for.

I know people do it on maximas. the GAB or Ghetto Air Box works. If you are looking for a cheap way to get better air flow to your engine. But you will be cutting your air box and will no longer have a stock one. just to give you a heads up.

i would save for a CAI just because of piping issues. My wife has the '07 Z and we dropped in the Fujita dual ram intake. Pretty amazing. The older models have a different set up. If you are thinking about doing your own piping think again. My cousin tried it on his POS integra and it looks horrible, among other things. Save your money, you'll thank me in the long run.
