the rear seats barely weigh anything, especially the bottom part, so you wont gain a lot that way

just so u know

Everything from the front seats back(panels, speakers, spare, rear seat, seat belts etc.) weighed about 110-120lbs. I stopped weighing it after I got to the small stuff, but you'd be surprised at how much crap is back there. 4lbs here and 7lbs there adds up quick. I left the sound deadening material back there for now since I don't feel like doing the whole car just yet.

I wouldn't recommend doing this on a daily driver though. The amount of weight you save really isn't that big of a difference. This is my fun car though, so I did it one day when I was bored.

ya i think i will just gut the whole trunk, and leave the back seats in there and side panels, just the trunk side panels ill do away with, if i pick up a couple pounds ill be happy. i am a kid. and kids like loud obnoxious things. i got a titanium muffler on the way too,and 2.5 inch exhaust in the making right now.

I cleared the back of my S13 hatch out but I left the rear seats (so far). It had nothing to do with sound or weight though; with the rear plastic panels in I couldn't comfortably reach the damping adjustments on the shocks.

True that, I started gutting mine after some inspiration from seeing all those bare-bones SCCA race cars at the SCCA New England championship @ lime rock a year ago. I have all the crap in one large, disorganized pile. I doubt i'd ever be able to put it all back the way it was originally, those clips are such a PITA.

I did this swap recently, its a PITA.......just becareful where you get your parts from, or if you can, pull them yourself so you have no one else to blame for broken/missing clips. its a real pain to try to get the pieces to fit correctly when something isn't set right. the dash is alot of trouble as well....spent over an hour just putting the black on in...probably a 2 person job, one guy holding it in place while the other pushes it down to the right position (one man job = 8 hours for dash, carpet, center console and door panels.)
