Gurgling in and around gear shift

We searched your forum and didn't have any luck with an answer to our problem.

My 2000 Infiniti G20T 5 speed has a gurgling sound under the gear shift and in the dash around the area of the gear shift. It seems to gurgle most when accelerating after shifting. It doesn't gurgle while driving at a constant speed, only when shifting is involved. There is no fluid leak. I've been hearing this noise for at least 6 months and it doesn't seem to be getting worse, but is not getting better.

The sound is almost like an air and fluid mixture going through a hose. That's the best way we can describe it.

Any suggestions?

Maybe an exhaust leak? That would probably be more pronounced after an additional load (lugging engine after shift)

yeah I disagree on the heater thing... You hardly ever hear it when driving, and its never loud enough to be heard when your moving...

It very well could be an exhaust leak... The best thing you could do is put it on a lift and see what its doing.. Does it do it when your leaving froma stop?

air in cooling system is definitly loud enough to hear while car is in motion,and sound is dependant on changes in engine speed{accelerating},this based on personal experience with over 300,000 miles of driving infiniti`s over the last 12+ years.

Interesting..... I'll take your word for it bceause ive heard the gurgling and its never bene that loud...

Check transmission fluid level. You may have too much.
