So i keep putting money into this dam thing and i still dont have it on the road...new battery, starter, alternator, used weber 34 34 and a ton of other crap.. I got my weber adapter plate yesterday and the dam thing doesnt fit...its for a z24 my motor says z24 in the block but the carb that was on it was off of a z20 so my question is...could the PO might have switched intake manifolds??? does the Z20 mani bolt to the 24?? i really need some help on this one guys im about to trash the thing and get a bike....

I ran into a similar deal a few years ago. I "eliminated" a stud (only 1) on the intake and ran what I had. carb only had three bolts in it. It did fine till i tried to run it 100+ for a 50
mile drive............. I don't think the three bolts in the carb had anything to do with it.
Fix it and get a bike too.. hell, the best of both worlds.... RIDE ON... RIDE ON... ONLY A ONE WAY TICKET.........RIDE ON.........I'M GONNA RIDE ON..........WHADDA YOU GONNA DO!?.................RIDE ON.... Instead of pushing it off a bridge, Just PM me and i'll come "get rid of it for you".

does it not fit only alittle? or a lotta? if it's just hanging up on the studs a little it can be cured with a round file, just open up the holes some, or give it a slotted effect on one side. If it doesn't even come close to fitting you should totally send it back and measure the holes center to center, length and width of both carbs and see if they have anything that matches. I'm sorry to hear you're still having troubles with this rig.. you could always push it into my back yard =P KC 720's are rare over here.

well... i know it took me a while to get mine to line up. it was a matter of flipping and spinning that stupid adapter a few times. at first i thought mine was wrong too, but it wasn't. keep trying, and also let's see the pics when you can get them up!

Almost fits this way but doesnt line up on one side at all and theres a big gap between the adapter and the intake so that cant work

Image
this is the way its supposed to fit but it doesnt line up at all...i think this is a manifold off of a Z22...

Off of a quick glance... it appears it is not a z24 manifold. I can't be 100% sure without examining mine a bit closer though.

its a z24.. really makes me wonder why the intake would be off of a z22, but crazier things have happened

should be able too. I didn't even know the z22 intake mani would fit the z24, or why anybody would ever wanna do it. looks like it'd seriously restrict flow, affect HP.... fuel economy maybe, all they had was a z22 carb?? less air, less fuel, less go.

another way to know for sure is the block plate, it'll have displacement stamped on there. the z24 displaces 2389cc I think

I probably have an extra z24 intake if you want it. I can post pics later. I am in Virginia.

I can try to send it out this week before friday(cuz I go out of town then).

I could get a less aggressive wire wheel and make it pretty, but I don't have a lot of time sitting next to it. I am about to get up at 4am to go out of town tomorrow. But hopefully I can get a ton done. monday.

I guarantee its of a Z24. but I can measure that tomorrow anyway. I should be working on the truck and getting it going tomorrow.

If I have time, I can try and clean it up a bit too. PM me about the intake.

It sure looks like the manifold I had on my Z20 powered galant. Factory adaptor did not work, so I made one myself.

I cleaned it with a couple wire brushes and compressed air.

bolt Holes.....

The two studs closest to the motor are 5cm apart the other two are 4.5cm

then measuring the holes that are farther apart are 8cm

These are all measured from the center of the stud.

Sooooooo are you looking for the perfect bridge or do you still want it?

Also I scraped the gasket so I'd recommend new hoses but the manifold itself is good to go.
