Looking to start another s14 project w/rb25det

Post

So I wanted to start a build thread for my next project that I will be starting soon. Feel free to chime in but take it easy on me lol. I want to set the car up for street and some track, maybe a little drifting...just lookin to build a very responsive car!

So far this is my parts list:

Rb25det: not sure where to buy from yet...raw brokerage?

Mckinney Mounts
Driveshaft
Wiseco forged pistons
Eagle h beam connecting rods
Tomei poncams .256
Arp main studs/head studs
Cometic metal HG 1.2mm
Port & polished head
Resurfaced head and block
Racing bearings
Greddy intake
Fuel injectors 850 denso top feed
Stage 3 clutch w/flywheel
Gtx3076r .82 trim
Q45 TB
Wastegate?
BOV?
Fuel pump
Z32 fuel filter
Intercooler?
Koyo Radiator
Short throw shifter
NGK wires
Turbo manifold?
3"exhaust?

Replace gaskets, belts water and oil pump

Probably going to get all the parts I need to get the car running and driving and just run low boost til next summer then pull the engine and build it up to handle 500-550hp.

Feel free to add anything to the list that I mightve missed.

Don't forget the crank collar if you are pulling it apart. I'm surprised at how little that topic is discussed anymore. It used to be a weekly occurrence. :D

A 3076R is going to be overspinning to make 550whp, but it will fit the stock manifold. Might want to think about a 35R instead, but then you're looking at a new manifold. If you really want response and can sacrifice some top end, I would go with the 3076R. Or if 550whp is your magic number, look into a twin scroll exhaust housing on the 35R and a quick-spool valve.

Don't really have an exact number in mind, just somewhere over 500hp. Doesn't the gtx spool quicker than the gt3076r? Also any other tips you can give me along the install? Your car is awesome man...I used to watch vids of it all the time lol

I have heard that the GTX's are all hype when it comes to spool performance, but there is a definite improvement on the top-end power. Since you are kind of in between standard sizes, the GTX3076R might be a good option instead of going up to a 35R and buying a new manifold, external WG, etc.

haha I think half of my videos are of it not running right! I should make a couple new ones because this thing is so much faster now. I give rides to people and they are extremely uncomfortable with the acceleration. :rotflmao

A buddy of mine has an RB25DET in his R33 and he did Greddy intake manifold, some custom intercooler, 272? cams, Ferrrera(sp?) valvetrain, port and polished head, all the studs/bearings/gaskets and stock internals. His turbo is a Precision GT62/67 Billet with a custom exhaust manifold and 850 injectors. He makes 500 ish at 14 psi.

A 6267 is a 700+ whp turbo and is overkill for making 500-550. Lag FTL.

Ahh, alright. I'll probably stick with the gtx or just the gt3076. Do you have a build thread on here? How much power are you making now? You should make some vids when you get a chance man! I could watch rb25 powered 240s on youtube all day long and not get bored haha

It is comfortably making 665 whp at 28 psi. It made 738 whp without going lean on the dyno when the WG line split and it spiked to 36 psi or so. That was on retarded timing and rich fueling too, so it has some head room.

Honestly, it has taken me all summer to get used to the additional 225 hp. When it spools, the tires start breaking loose and things get crooked at 70 mph real quick. I have considered having my rear wheels widened 2" so I can get some wider drag radials underneath it. We will see what Santa brings this year :D

Nope. Incorrect statement. His car is boosting and making positive boost under 3K. he is full boost by 3500. on C16 and 25 psi, it churned out 650 rwhp. His car is a responsive bastard...
