Hello everyone! I just picked up this 1992 180sx with the factory redtop and thought I would keep a log of my build.

When I bought the car it already had the following installed:

Image

Non-Adjustable TEIN coilovers
HKS super suction kit
Downpipe...not sure of brand.
Full exhaust...again, no clue what brand, but it doesn't fit right.
A set of cheesy 16x7 wheels
some cheap Project Mu brake pads.
Strut tower and rear cross brace's
And an awesome double stack aluminum wing.

The day after i bought it, the wing had to go. I also had to give the previous owner his cheesy "drifting" steering wheel back so I went and picked up a cheap D1 Spec suede wheel at UpGarage. Turns out I really like it. I also took some time to take a few good pictures of the car before I did any more mods.

Needs adjustable coils. Stance GR+'s are in work.

Image
This is what happens when your exhaust is made for an HCR32 and you rig it to work on a RPS13 :-)

Image
The rear...I hate the tails. Working on locating a set of affordable Kouki tails but even in Japan, its not easy.

The D1Spec suede wheel. Also the OG HUGE Blitz boost gauge.

********UPDATE*********

Yesterday I installed a kouki rear spoiler and dropped the ride height about an inch. Pics should be up tomorrow!

Also, just picked up a 80mm straight pipe, Rear toe bars, ordered a set of RUCA's, and stopped by AutoBacs for supplies to paint/seal the spoiler.

So you joined the dark side of the S13 owners here on base huh... That car looks strangely familiar... Anyhow, that Skyline exhaust needs to go man, that would be my first step...Good s*** tho otherwise! :bigthumb:

Well, I did a few things today before work. I installed my 80mm straight through cat-back exhaust. Slapped on 20mm and 25mm spacers. And lowered the ride height just a tad. Now I need a fender roller :chuckle:

The spacers set my effective offset to 16x7+10 in the front and 16x7+5 in the rear for any of you that are curious of the sizes/offsets.

Image
NEED MOAR LOW!!!

Image
On sure on the brand...but its JDM so its cool right?? :gapteeth:

Image
Really need to paint the spoiler...

Image
I like the new stance a little better. But I would like to be another -10mm offset all around, and about an inch lower. But my TEIN coilovers are bottomed out as far as adjustability goes.

A better shot of the exhaust from my Iphone

Pretty sweet car. Some paint on that wing and new tail lights would make it look really nice. Those wheels dont look to bad spaced out, but I think they would look better bronze.

Careful with that exhaust there hommie...The Nazi gate guards are all ate-up about "Loud" exhausts. Duffy got hemmed up for his HKS Hi Power and that s*** isn't loud for s***...Other than that tho, good s***, looks way better without the over sized can... :dblthumb:

As long as your not stupid like...idk...Lutsic?! :lolling: :lolling: then you wont have a problem. I barley touch the throttle when i'm approaching or leaving the gate. I wait until im at least a few lights away off base before I let myself make any noise. So far so good, they haven't said anything too me.

Well progress isnt as fast as it was initally but I got a few things done.

1- Tightened up my steering wheel; It seems the previous owner didnt install a washer between the nut and the boss/adapter so the nut wasnt tightened down on the boss, only tightened until there were no threads left. Added a washer and boom, problem solved.

2. I Painted the kouki spoiler and installed it. Everything went good. The paint isn't perfect but its not too bad for a rattle can job.

3. I went to the mountains and discovered a few things that need attention. My Brakes SUCK! My tires are horrible, and the rear diff is OPEN.

Painted the wing

An Artsy shot.

Heres a few other things I picked up that I forgot to post.

GT-1 Rear Upper Control Arms

GT-1 Rear Toe Links

Enkei 16x7+35. Funny story here. I was at the garage pulling off the Kouki spoiler for paint when this guy asks me if my car is 4-lug and staying that way. I told him yea, since im too cheap to do the conversion. He then asks if I wanted a set of wheels. Im thinking...well yea, but I dont really have money in the budget for wheels right now. Well turns out he is giving them away for FREE...I obliged real quick.

How the car sits as of right now.

Idk...im on the fence about coilovers. I hated the Tein's i have now because i couldnt go very low. But I took them apart and removed the helper springs and was able to get it much lower. I still want either Stance's or PBM's but I have to save up some money. I almost pulled the trigger a few weeks ago but i spent the money on things i NEEDED instead of things i wanted lol.

Im going to try and make coilovers my next big purchase. But it might be awhile, I want to do a few more events before I buy more sh*t, i dont wanna fall into the cycle of modding more than driving.

Maybe, but must be nice to have the option of hitting up a Super Autobacs or UP Garage for stuff.

The secondhand super autobacs are few and far...but yea, UpGarage is a blessing. Its funny tho, Japanese people will laugh at you when your at the track or in the mountains and say you got your parts at UpGarage. Its like telling people "Yea I got it on ebay".

Well I havent updated this in a while so heres a few updates.

Got word of a few guys taking a trip to Ebisu so I figured I should take care of a few things if I wanted to tag along.

Other than the obvious fluids and inspecting, I Picked up a cheap/loaner bucket seat with rails for a Nissan Laurel I think...but it worked with some grinding. After I installed this I realized my seatbelt dug into my collar bone and neck pretty bad so I needed a harness.
Image

A quick trip to UpGarage and I picked this up for around $90 USD.
Image

Its installed with steel anchors and 4x4" steel plates under the floor.
Image

Image

Yes i know...my seat is haggard. But it works and with a pillow under my butt I can withstand the 4.5hr drive to Ebisu
Image

I've just returned from Ebisu last night so I will have some photo's up soon!
