I just got my CA from Venus 2 days ago. Already, it is stripped down to the bare block and head. It seems to be perfect so far, very clean. But one thing, on 4 of the intake valves, there is gunk covering them. It is weird because the 4 "low rpm" valves that are always being used are squeaky clean, there is not a spec of dirt on them, but the 4 valves that are given air from the 4 plates that are activated from the actuator are covered in gunk. I cant see all the way down to the head of the valve because I have not taken the head off the block yet, but as far as I can see, they are covered. Why are only these 4 valves covered, is it because they aren't always being used? Has anyone else had this problem? Please inform me if this is a problem for many CA owners. Thanks.

Same on my motors, thats cause they probably (either Venus or someone back in JDM land) sprayed throttle body cleaner in the system at some point (possibly often) and so your always-on valves are clean but not the sometimes-on.

The injectors on jdm heads are offset to one side so only one valve per cylinder gets a spray of fuel, thats why one is clean and the other just collects crankcase gunk, its normal.

If you clean them off then vent the breather system to atmos then it wont happen again, and ditching the breather recirc helps prevent detting anyway.

As the others have said, it's because cleaner only gets to the "always open" set of valves. I'm going to dump my butteyfly system so it shouldn't be a concern anymore. Just clean it good when you've got it apart.

Just leave your butterfly system open by not adding a vacuum hose to the actuator. No gunk will be present.......

or just remove the shaft and plug the holes, and get a catch can instead of crankcase venting going into the intake
